Hack Licensing

Applying for a Hack License
(Note: The taxicab examination is suspended indefinitely)

1. All applicants for a DC Hack License must complete the 60-hour Hack License Training Course offered by the University of the District of Columbia (UDC), and pass an oral, written, and timed, computerized examination administered by the DC Taxicab Commission.

  • The Hack License Training Course is offered at UDC, 410 8th Street NW, sixth (6) floor. Classroom numbers will be provided at time of registration.
  • The fee for the course is $375, which includes materials.
  • The training course is offered from 9 am to 12 pm and 6 pm to 9 pm, Monday through Thursday, and on Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm. Monday through Thursday classes meet for three hours each day, for nine days, with the exam given on the second Friday. The Saturday class requires attendance on seven consecutive Saturdays for four hours each day.
  • For registration information about the Hack License Training Course, call the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) at (202) 274-6961. Registration takes place at the UDC Main Campus, 4200 Connecticut Avenue, NW. Hours of registration are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
