30th Store Added to the District's Healthy Food Retail Program This Year

(Washington, DC) –The Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) is pleased to announce that 30 stores have been added to the District’s Healthy Food Retail Program (HFRP) in 2014. Liff’s Market (600 Alabama Ave. SE) in Ward 8 received its first deliveries through the program on Wednesday, July 30th. In partnership with DC Central Kitchen’s award-winning “Healthy Corners” program, the Healthy Food Retail Program (HFRP) has expanded to over 60 small food retailers since 2011.


DCTC Announces New Technical Enhancements

The DC Taxicab Commission announces new initiatives to improve customer service and the efficiency of the DC taxicab fleet including a 5-day commercial driver licensing process and the capability to text message to taxis in real time to summon service for large numbers in need of rides.

Notice: CAPS-DC Grant Funding

The DC Taxicab Commission is currently soliciting applications from taxicab companies to provide through the Coordinated Alternative to Paratransit Services (CAPS-DC) pilot program a transportation option to consenting MetroAccess dialysis patients. Grant funds will be available for approved taxicab companies to purchase WMATA paratransit vehicles. See the application.
