OHR will be tabling and answering questions about language access and other civil rights laws at the DC Mayor's Office on African Affairs' 6th Annual DC Africa Festival. Each year, the Mayor’s Annual DC Africa Festival celebrates diverse communities of the District’s African diaspora through art, culture, cuisine, history, and music. Since its inception in 2010, the Festival has fast become one of the District’s most anticipated cultural events drawing thousands of attendees.
General Commission Meeting
The DC Taxicab Commission has a General Commission Meeting scheduled for 10 am Wednesday, October 14 at 2235 Shannon Place, SE, Second Floor Hearing Room, Suite 2032. Agenda items include consideration of: proposed rulemaking to program the dome light to display "CALL 911" when triggered by driver; requirement for taxicab companies to deploy safety devices; new approval standards for Payment Service Proposals; and a reduction of the wait time rate. The meeting is open to the public.
Administrative Issuances: Vehicle Decals
Taxicab operators are advised that required decals for placement on vehicles are available to be picked up for free from the DC Taxicab Commission, Driver Services, Suite 2001, 2235 Shannon Place, SE. The required decals include: bicycle safety; taximeter certification, rate card and seatbelt use.
