30th Store Added to the District's Healthy Food Retail Program This Year

(Washington, DC) –The Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) is pleased to announce that 30 stores have been added to the District’s Healthy Food Retail Program (HFRP) in 2014. Liff’s Market (600 Alabama Ave. SE) in Ward 8 received its first deliveries through the program on Wednesday, July 30th. In partnership with DC Central Kitchen’s award-winning “Healthy Corners” program, the Healthy Food Retail Program (HFRP) has expanded to over 60 small food retailers since 2011.


DCTC Approves Companies for CAPS-DC Program

The DC Taxicab Commission announces the selection of Yellow Cab Company and Transco Inc., to participate in the CAPS-DC program. These companies will acquire up to 33 MetroAccess vans to convert to wheelchair accessible taxicab service and transport CAPS-DC participants to dialysis treatment.

Driver Training and Licensing Examination

The DC Taxicab Commission is committed to making the licensing process as expedient and efficient as possible. The current way of training, testing and licensing is changing. Study guides will be available soon to prepare for the examination for a commercial operator’s license to enable anyone to walk-in to take the test.
